Pickup The AT-VM95SH has a naked Shibata stylus - highly valued especially for high-end audiophile applications. The Shibata cut enables rich, full bass and mids and a frequency response of up to 25,000 Hz.

VM95 Series - Cartridge Compatibility Overview: Even the best diamond stylus wears out after some time - conical styli after about 500 hours, elliptical styli after 300 hours, microlinear stylus after 1000 hours and Shibata stylus after around 800 hours.

For this reason, Audio Technica designed the VM95 series dual-moving magnet cartridges so that the styli can be interchanged and the cartridge itself can be used almost indefinitely. If the stylus is worn out, you don't need to buy a new pickup, just the right replacement stylus - or you can upgrade your system with another, higher quality stylus.

All six VM95 pickup models feature the same electromagnetic drive unit (housing). Therefore, the six styli of this series are 100% compatible (AT-VMN95C, AT-VMN95E, AT-VMN95EN, AT-VMN95ML, AT-VMN95SH, AT-VMN95SP)

AT-VM95 Series: Compatible with AT-XP Series DJ Cartridges: The electromagnetic drive unit (housing) of the XP Cartridges is fully compatible with all VM95 Series replacement styli and delivers a higher output voltage than VM95 Cartridges - for better compatibility with Phono inputs of professional DJ mixers. In addition, the electromagnetic drive unit (housing) of the VM95 cartridges can be combined with the three replacement needles of the AT-XP DJ cartridge series, although the XP series has a higher output voltage than for optimal compatibility with phono inputs of professional DJ mixers the VM95 series offers. When using XP series styli, note that the typical tracking force in this case is three grams, not two grams as with VM95 series needles. The suspension and properties of the XP needles have been specially optimized for intensive DJ use such as manual cueing and back-cueing (forward and backward movements). The suspension and characteristics of the VM95 pickups were developed for high-quality, “audiophile” music reproduction (ATN-XP7, ATN-XP5, ATN-XP3)

Shibata needle: This stylus impresses with its pleasant midrange and treble reproduction with the typical Shibata sound and high volume in the mid-frequency range.

Mounting without nuts: VM95 series cartridges have two M2.6 thread inserts that allow installation on the tonearm or (replaceable) headshell without nuts. Each pickup includes four M2.6 screws (2 x 8 mm and 2 x 11 mm) and two plastic washers.
