The Sigma 35MM F1.4 DG II ART lens with Sony E / FE mount is a full-frame wide-angle lens that offers exceptional image quality and high brightness. The lens is designed for both photography and videography, combining a compact and lightweight build with top-tier optical performance. It continues the development of Sigma's 35mm F1.4 Art series, featuring a precisely crafted construction and balanced bokeh without chromatic aberrations.

Optical Performance

The lens's optical design has been completely renewed and includes 15 elements in 12 groups. It utilizes four high-precision aspherical elements and two SLD glass elements, which effectively reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions. This produces sharp and detailed images across the entire frame, even when shooting at full aperture.

Handling and Construction

The compact and lightweight design makes the lens easy to use and carry. The construction is approximately 14% shorter and about 20% lighter than its predecessor. The floating focus system supports optical performance and enables fast, precise, and quiet autofocus, which is especially beneficial for video production.

Usability Features

The lens includes several features that enhance shooting comfort, such as two AFL buttons, an aperture control ring, an aperture lock switch, and a click switch. Focus breathing has been minimized by optimizing the arrangement of the focusing group and the shape of the aspherical elements, supporting smooth focus transitions needed in videography.

Durability and Protection

The lens is designed to resist dust and splashes. The front lens element has a water- and oil-repellent coating that makes cleaning easier and provides protection during use. The construction is not waterproof, and large amounts of water should be avoided. The included petal-shaped lens hood attaches with a locking mechanism and reduces flare caused by stray light.

Bokeh and Image Quality

The lens's 11-blade rounded diaphragm produces smooth and natural bokeh without color fringing. The background renders softly and pleasantly, emphasizing the focused subject.
