Continental Grand Prix 5000S TR 32-622 tire, black (0101869)

Continental's GP 5000S TR is also a tubeless ready road tire suitable for hookless rims. Both the rollability of the tire and the puncture protection have been improved from the previous ones, e.g. thanks to the new frame structure. The new two-layer 2/220 tpi frame construction improves the resistance of the sides to cuts, while at the same time being more flexible and therefore better rolling. Also included are familiar proven technologies such as Vectran puncture protection and the Lazer Grip microprofile, which offers unique grip and reliability for cornering.

According to Continental, the novelty is 20% faster, 28% better at side protection and 50-70 grams lighter depending on size.

Vectran is a puncture protection developed and patented by Continental that is lighter and more flexible and more effective than the corresponding nylon puncture protection. It does not reduce the rolling resistance of the tire. Vectan is a liquid crystal polymer (LCP), like spider web, and is spun from molten Vectra liquid polymer and further processed into multifilament yarn. Like the spider web, Vectran resists tearing very well, while being light.
