Compact and lightweight, the black Canon EOS R50 is an extremely versatile mirrorless camera. A large 24.2 megapixel APS-C size sensor, featuring the EOS R system, creates high-quality shots. 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS SENSOR AND DIGIC X PROCESSING


Combining a powerful 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor with the DIGIC X image processor, the R50 ensures high-resolution images with vivid and accurate colors. Designed to work in various lighting conditions, this camera offers a flexible ISO range of 100–32,000, which can be expanded to ISO 51,200 to handle challenging lighting environments. Using the full sensor width, 6K cropped UHD 4K 30p video recording is supported, as well as Full HD 1080 120p for slow-motion playback. Additionally, you can now record for up to 1 hour. The DIGIC X image processor, capable of processing high-speed bursts and high-resolution 4K video, also supports continuous shooting of up to 15 frames per second via electronic shutter.





 




ADVANCED DUAL PIXEL CMOS AF II


The advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system, featuring 651 high-precision autofocus zones, ensures fast and accurate focusing. This phase-detection autofocus system offers improved subject detection and tracking, with the ability to intelligently recognize people, animals, and vehicles, while automatically locking onto these subjects and maintaining sharp focus through bursts and video.

 



 




VARI-ANGLE TOUCH LCD SCREEN


For a high-resolution view at eye level, the R50 is designed with a bright and clear 2.36 million-dot OLED EVF so you can enjoy the electronic viewfinder. Additionally, the large 3.0" 1.62 million-dot vari-angle touchscreen provides an intuitive interface, allowing you to manage focus points, navigate menus, and review images. This screen also features a vari-angle design for convenience when shooting from high or low angles.







SIMPLICITY, CONVENIENCE, AND A WEALTH OF FEATURES



The R50 camera, with video features such as uncropped UHD 4K video recording at up to 30 fps, Full HD high frame rate recording at up to 120 fps, Dual Pixel CMOS AF tracking, and Movie for Close-up Demo mode, allows you to create videos and video content simply and conveniently. The camera also allows for continuous video recording for up to 1 hour, so you can set up a video and continue your video journal, podcast, or other video project without worrying about it stopping. Experience the joy of creative photography using the expanded range of Auto modes. The expanded A+ Assist provides great images even in challenging conditions, e.g., night scenes and backlit scenarios. Overexposure is automatically reduced so you can capture dynamic scenes or bright portraits; several continuous frames are also taken to create beautiful night scenes or macro photography with greater depth of field. Ensure the correct subject is in focus using the Movie for Close-up Demo mode on the R50 mirrorless camera. This mode quickly switches focus from the subject in the camera to an object pointed at the camera lens, making it ideal for films where a product needs to be shown to viewers, e.g., in makeup demonstrations or cooking videos.



 

 


 



VERTICAL VIDEO MODE AND ASPECT MARKERS


Video rotation information can be set during or after filming, so videos can be played vertically when viewed on a smartphone. The Aspect Markers function displays visual markers for different aspect ratios that may be needed when posting the same file to various social media sites. This screen takes into account the appropriate composition for the various files that can be created during editing.










FLEXIBLE CONNECTIVITY


Wired and wireless connectivity options allow for various ways to transfer photos and videos, live stream, and remotely control the camera. Physically, the camera has a USB-C port, a micro-HDMI port, and a microphone port for video recording. UVC/UAC compatibility allows the R50 camera to be used as a webcam to live stream in Full HD resolution without additional computer software. Compatible software includes Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, and similar video conferencing software. Integrated Bluetooth pairing allows for easy connection of the camera to compatible smart devices using the free Canon Camera Connect app. This low-power wireless connection helps save battery while also allowing for remote camera control. It also sends continuously updated GPS location data from your phone so you can tag what you captured to know exactly where you took the photo. Integrated Wi-Fi connectivity allows for fast and smooth wireless functions, such as remote live view, file browsing, and transfer. Using the Canon Camera Connect app, you can also transfer files to your mobile device for browsing and sharing on social networks. Integrated USB-C allows you to connect the camera to a smartphone or computer. All Canon Camera Connect app features that can be used with Wi-Fi are now accessible when the camera and smartphone are connected via USB, using your device's compatible cable. The integrated pop-up flash provides additional lighting when working in low-light conditions, and the camera's multi-function battery grip at the front adds a row of mounts for using more accessories. These next-generation grips also provide the option to choose accessory types that traditionally depend on separate batteries.
