DJI RS 5 combines advanced subject tracking, precise balancing, and a lightweight body capable of supporting extensive camera setups. It offers cinematographers stability, reliable control, and efficient operating features for various situations. A new briefcase handle facilitates control, and fast charging and longer battery life ensure uninterrupted shooting.

Intelligent Subject Tracking and Stable Shooting

The DJI RS 5 utilizes the RS Enhanced Intelligent Tracking module, allowing users to frame and select subjects directly from the gimbal’s touchscreen. The system tracks individuals from up to 10 meters away and can reacquire the subject even if it temporarily exits the frame. It supports tracking modes for people, vehicles, and pets.

The fifth-generation stabilization algorithm and 50 percent greater motor torque enhance stability while walking and during faster movements, providing a balanced combination of control and smooth motion.

Lightweight Design and Strong 3 kg Payload Capacity

The gimbal weighs 1.46 kilograms with the battery handle and quick release plates. It supports vertical shooting without accessories and carries a camera setup of up to 3 kilograms. This makes the RS 5 a versatile tool for most mirrorless cameras and common lenses.

Examples of compatible models include Sony FX3 and A7M4, Canon R5 Mark II, Nikon Z6 III and Z7 II, Panasonic S5M2, and Fujifilm X-T5.

New Electronic Briefcase Handle

The electronic briefcase handle provides an intuitive one-handed grip. The joystick and buttons on the handle allow for quick control of the gimbal and camera in rapidly changing shooting angles. Usability is improved, especially in low and dynamic shots.

Longer Battery Life and Efficient Charging

The RS 5’s standard battery offers approximately 14 hours of standby time and charges fully in one hour. Charging is 60 percent faster than the previous generation, and battery life has been improved by 15 percent.

A high-capacity BG70 battery handle is also available separately, which can extend standby time to up to 30 hours and supports PD fast charging.

Smooth Balancing and Smart Operating Features

Fine-tuning knobs and Teflon spacers make balancing smooth and precise, even with heavier setups. Second-generation automatic axis locks speed up the transition to shooting readiness and facilitate transport.

Native vertical shooting can be achieved in seconds by rotating the base plate 90 degrees. Dual-layer quick release plates allow for seamless transitions between tripod and gimbal without rebalancing.

The RS 5 supports DJI Focus Pro motors, allowing users to control zoom and focus. Additionally, support for DJI SDR transmission enables high-definition broadcasts, remote control, and Force Mobile functions for small production teams. The RSA interface port allows for attachment of accessories and third-party expansions.
