A professional frying pan with excellent cooking properties and a virtually endless lifespan! Carbon steel pans are a good alternative to Teflon pans, and like cast iron, they require some care. A well-maintained carbon steel pan develops a natural non-stick surface formed by fat and carbon, reducing the need for seasoning and increasing its non-stick properties. A frequently used carbon steel pan even has the cooking properties of a cast iron pan and the non-stick qualities of a Teflon pan! Additionally, you can confidently use metal utensils with the pan.

The De Buyer Mineral B series features a pre-treatment with a completely natural and chemical-free organic beeswax coating. The coating protects the pan from rust and helps with its initial seasoning. It forms the first cooking surface for the carbon steel, while also improving the pan's non-stick properties. Wash the pan with hot water to remove any storage dust before the first use – most of the beeswax will be removed. The small amount of wax remaining will not cause any harm but will, on the contrary, help with the pan's seasoning. You can also season the pan if you wish - see instructions in the video link below.

Carbon steel is not as porous a material as cast iron, so you can confidently cook all ingredients in it. With high-protein ingredients, such as eggs or white fish, it is advisable to be careful and lower the temperature significantly. You shouldn't try to keep the carbon steel a bright steel color, as it will change color with use. The pan's interior surface will darken, and when the interior surface is completely black, its natural non-stick surface is at its best.

The carbon steel pan should not be washed in the dishwasher; hand washing with hot water is usually sufficient. Food should not be stored in the carbon steel pan, nor should it be left soaking in the sink to prevent rust. If surface rust appears on the pan, it is not unusable; the rust can be removed with a scouring pad or steel wool, for example. After use, washing, and drying, it is a good idea to apply a drop of rapeseed oil to the pan to prevent surface rust from forming during storage.

Suitable for all heat sources and cooktops, including induction cooktops. The frying pan can also be used in the oven (max 200 °C for 10 min).

  • Outer diameter at the top edge: 32 cm

  • Bottom diameter: 23 cm

  • Edge height: 4.2 cm

  • Thickness: 3 mm

The pressed frame of the carbon steel pan may occasionally warp slightly. To prevent this, avoid placing a hot pan in cold water. Also, using the pan on the stovetop's highest setting may cause warping. If warping occurs, first slightly heat the pan and place it upside down on a sturdy surface, tapping the center of the pan with a hammer.
