1. Apple conducted testing in July 2025 using AirPods Pro 3 headphones, which were paired with an iPhone 16. Testing used pre-release versions of AirPods firmware and iOS 26. Noise cancellation was tested according to the IEC 60268-24 standard. Comparison was performed against the best-selling wireless earbuds available at the time of testing. Performance depends on device settings, environment, and several other factors.

All devices were tested with pre-release software. The playlist consisted of 358 different audio tracks purchased from the iTunes Store (256 kb/s AAC encoding). The volume was at 50%, and active background noise cancellation was enabled. Listening time was up to 7.5 hours with Spatial Audio and head tracking enabled. In the test, the full battery of the AirPods Pro was drained by playing audio until one of the headphones stopped playing. Battery life varies depending on device settings, environment, usage, and several other factors.

All devices were tested with pre-release software. The volume and boost level were at 50%, and Transparency was enabled. In the test, the full battery of the AirPods Pro headphones was drained with the Hearing Aid feature on, so that no audio was played from the iPhone until the battery of the other AirPods Pro headphone was completely drained. Battery life varies depending on device settings, environment, usage, and several other factors.
