A USB modem provides internet access over the mobile network wherever there's no wired connection - at a summer cottage, on the road, or as a backup line. It plugs into a computer or router through a USB port and runs on a carrier SIM card. This category includes models supporting different mobile network standards, which determines the maximum connection speed, plus versions with a memory card slot for extra storage.
