A tumble dryer, alongside the rest of the major appliances, replaces hanging laundry on a line, which matters when planning a laundry area in a house or flat. When choosing a dryer to sit next to the washing machine, it's worth matching the drum volume and, if the two are stacked, checking that the case dimensions are compatible. The range includes models with different drying types - condenser, heat pump or vented - and different energy efficiency ratings. Heat pump models typically use less electricity, though they cost more than condenser equivalents.
