Portable evaporative air coolers, unlike classic air conditioners, cool the air through water evaporation and don't need installation or an exhaust hose routed outside. These devices are simpler to set up - just fill the tank with water and plug it in - which makes them a convenient option for rented housing or temporary use. Their cooling effect is generally weaker than an air conditioner's and depends more heavily on the room's humidity. When choosing, it's worth considering the water tank capacity and the room size the device is rated for.
