Food for fish

Food for fish is chosen based on the species in the aquarium and where they typically feed in the water column. Flakes suit most fish that feed near the surface, sinking pellets and tablets suit bottom-dwelling species such as catfish, and live or frozen food is used to supplement the main diet for more demanding species. When choosing, it's worth considering the size of the fish - flakes or pellets that are too large can be awkward for small fish - and avoiding overfeeding, since excess food degrades water quality.
