Network Attached Storage (NAS)

A NAS, or network attached storage unit, keeps your files in one place on the home or office network: documents, photo archives and backups stay reachable from a computer, TV or phone, both locally and remotely. Models differ by the number of drive bays - two or more bays let you build a RAID array so data survives a disk failure. When comparing units, look at supported drive capacity, network port speed and processor performance, which matters if the NAS will run a media server or serve several users at once.
