The Google Home Speaker is a smart speaker that combines 360-degree sound with the Gemini AI assistant. The built-in 58 mm full-range driver delivers precise and balanced sound in all directions – for music, podcasts, and movies. The speaker also functions as a hub for Google Home and Matter, making it easier to connect and control smart home devices. The Quad Core A55 processor with NPU and Wi-Fi 6 support ensure smooth operation.

Gemini AI Assistant

Gemini for Home brings daily help: you can set reminders, control smart home devices, stream media, and get answers to your questions through natural conversation. With a Google Home Premium subscription (included as a 6-month free trial at the time of purchase, valid until 9/30/2026), you also have access to Gemini Live, which allows real-time conversations, brainstorming ideas, and expert assistance. It also includes new natural Gemini voices and the Learn with Gemini feature to support studying.

Precise 360-Degree Sound

The omnidirectional 58 mm full-range driver produces balanced sound in all directions regardless of the speaker’s placement. Compared to the Nest Mini, the bass is 2.5 times stronger and the driver is twice the size, adding richness to the sound. Adaptive sound adjusts the volume based on background noise so speech and music come through clearly. Two Google Home speakers can be paired with a Google TV Streamer for surround sound, and multiple speakers can be grouped into different rooms using Google Cast support.

Smart Home Hub

The speaker functions as a Matter and Google Home hub, and the built-in Thread 1.3 border router speeds up communication between smart devices. You can control multiple functions with a single request – for example, dim the lights, adjust the temperature, and start music simultaneously. The View Camera History feature (Google Home Premium Advanced) lets you request summaries of events from Nest Cam cameras and Nest Doorbell doorbells.

Design and Privacy

The speaker’s surface is made of 3D-knit yarn fabric, which reduces fabric waste. A light ring reflecting from below indicates when the speaker is listening, thinking, or responding. The microphone can be muted with a physical switch to ensure privacy. Capacitive touch controls (3 touch zones) allow playback control directly on the speaker.

Comfortable for Family Use

Parental control settings restrict inappropriate music and video playback through the Google Home app. The device pause silences the speaker’s question, command, and notification features for quiet moments. The Broadcast feature sends voice messages to Google Home speakers and Nest devices at home.
