For perfect temperature measurement The Braun ThermoScan 7 measures the infrared heat of the eardrum and the surrounding tissue. Because the eardrum shares the blood supply with the temperature control center in the brain, the ear accurately reflects changes in core body temperature.
Braun ThermoScan has been proven to be as accurate as rectal measurement, even in newborns. The thermometer's probe can be safely used to measure the temperature of newborns because it does not need to be fully inserted into the ear canal to get an accurate reading.
