Product description

Fujifilm X-T50 + XC 15-45mm F3.5-5.6 OIS PZ (silver). The kit includes the Fujifilm X-T50 camera (silver) and the XC 15-45mm F3.5-5.6 OIS PZ lens. The "Fujifilm X-T50" is a mid-range APS-C system camera with a classic style. It is designed using the 40MP "X-Trans" sensor used in the X-T5 and X-H2, and features image stabilization. Furthermore, most of the X-T5’s features are incorporated into a smaller and more affordable body. The "Fujifilm X-T50" incorporates image stabilization – the first in this line of cameras. Until now, it was necessary to choose between X-Sx0 cameras, which had stabilization and DSLR-style command dials, or unstabilized X-Tx0 models with a shutter speed dial, but now you can simply make the decision based on which control system you prefer. The system is rated to provide up to 7.0 EV of correction, and uses a combination of gyroscope data and direct viewing image analysis to assess and correct movement.

40MP SENSOR AND X PROCESSOR 5

The X-T50 incorporates a 40MP "X-Trans" sensor and the latest "X-Processor" from the X-T5. This combination not only delivers the same image quality as the X-T5, but also a large portion of this camera’s features. This includes the latest AF algorithms included in X-T5 f/w 2.0, and all of the object recognition modes offered by this camera. The X-T50 also includes the "Camera-to-Cloud" function, allowing you to directly upload photos to the sharing platform "Frame.io" over a "Wi-Fi" network, as well as features like focus tracking by tap in video recording, recently implemented in the X-T5.

FOCUSING MODE DIAL

Following the implementation of image stabilization, the most significant update may be the focusing mode dial located on the left shoulder of the camera. It replaces the drive mode selector that was in previous X-Tx0 models. It may seem like a small detail, considering that all "Fujifilm" models offer the option to select film simulation color modes, but adding a direct dial is a sensible step for a camera like this. The difference between knowing that a menu option exists and being constantly reminded of its existence every time you pick up the camera is significant. A direct control point also greatly reduces the barrier to using that function. Every camera on the market has several color modes, some more appealing than others, but "Fujifilm’s" typically subtle, appealing, and memorable (thanks to the film name designations) modes help create some of the best JPEGs. Their obviousness and simplicity will undoubtedly encourage more X-T50 photographers to use them. It is not perfect, as it is a twelve-position dial on a camera with fourteen film simulations, where one position passes control to the camera’s command dials. However, it is easy enough to customize three selectable dial positions, with the option to specify a simulated color filter for monochrome modes, once you remember that this option is in the main IQ menu, not the setup section.

6.2K VIDEO

The Fujifilm X-T50 offers virtually all of the X-T5’s video capabilities – it is possible to record 6.2K videos at up to 30p (or HQ 4K videos) from a 1.23x cropped sensor area. It can also record sub-sampled 4K from the full sensor width up to 30p or up to 60p with a 1.14x crop. As with the X-T5, you simply need to directly select how much detail you want to capture and how well the mechanical shutter is controlled. There is also focus tracking by tap in video recording (implemented in the X-T5 only at the end of April), F-Log2, auto-shutter options, a red frame contour when recording, and control of the front and rear control lights. The Fujifilm X-T50 can output a data stream via HDMI, which Atomos or Blackmagic external recorders can encode as ProRes RAW or Blackmagic Raw, respectively. The only X-T5 video feature not offered is the ability to connect an additional fan unit and extend the camera’s recording duration.

ENTIRELY NEW BODY

Although the X-T50 and X-T30 II share the same family appearance, the X-T50 features an entirely new body. Instead of being essentially rectangular with rounded corners, when viewed directly from below in a plane, the new cameras have completely curved ends and a protruding extension of the front grip at the top. This is a wider camera than its predecessor, but not as deep, despite the addition of in-body stabilization. The redesigned grip not only helps the camera resemble the X-T5 more, but also makes it easier to hold firmly. The camera’s AEL button has been slightly relocated – it is now not next to the rear command dial, but at the top of the three buttons on the camera’s rear panel. The Q Menu button is still at the thumb rest on the rear grip. The X-T50 has the same AF controller as the X-T5, but it is slightly further back on the body, making it a little less comfortable to operate. However, its role becomes slightly less significant due to the object recognition AF function incorporated into the camera, as this means that if you are trying to capture one of the objects the camera can recognize, you do not need to set the AF precisely on the selected object if you want the camera to focus on it. As with other "Fujifilm" cameras, face detection and object recognition modes are completely separate. This is a positive thing, as you can assign a button to turn "Eye AF" on and off, but it means you will need to assign two buttons if you want to toggle the object mode to face detection mode and back (pressing one button turns it on and pressing it again returns to the standard AF mode, rather than the detection mode that was on previously). The viewfinder back still has a pop-up flash, but as before, this limits the viewfinder panel and optics size, so the X-T50 continues to offer one of the smallest viewfinders in its class. The X-T50 still uses a 2.36 million dot [px] OLED viewfinder panel, which is competitive but not exceptional compared to similar cameras, but its 0.62x magnification is unusually small. The rear screen has also not changed, featuring a tilt-up/down flip screen with a 3.0-inch, 1.62 million dot [px] panel common with the X-T30 II.

XC 15-45mm F3.5-5.6 OIS PZ LENS

The "FUJINON XC 15-45mm F3.5-5.6 OIS PZ" covers a frequently used focal length range from 23mm to 69mm in 35mm format equivalent and is the smallest and lightest zoom lens compatible with the X Series. Combining this lens with a compact, lightweight Fujifilm system camera, you can enjoy excellent portability and comfortable shooting. The composition of 10 elements arranged in 9 groups, including three aspherical lenses and two ED lenses, ensures excellent resolving power at all zoom positions, and its length is only 44.2mm* (in the collapsed position) and weight is only 135g. This lens covers a frequently used focal length range from 23mm to 69mm (35mm format equivalent), making it suitable for both landscapes and portraits. Since the wide-angle end is equivalent to 23mm, this lens is suitable for selfies with a few people or a background when used with a camera with a 180° tilt LCD screen, such as the FUJIFILM X-A5. Using the widest-angle position, photographers can photograph objects approximately 5cm from the end of the lens and achieve a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.24x. This lens is ideal for those who want to photograph food, flowers, or small accessories in close-up. Creating a small, collapsible lens has been made possible using electric zoom. When the camera is turned on, the lens automatically extends and is ready to shoot. Two different zoom speeds can be selected by rotating the zoom ring. The lens position moves at a constant speed, so the zoom is smooth when shooting video. The electric zoom incorporates 3.0-stop optical image stabilization technology, in accordance with CIPA recommendations, which helps photographers shooting in low-light conditions. The internal focus AF system uses a stepping motor that drives lightweight focus elements, so autofocus operates quickly and quietly.
