The EOS R50 V was designed with creator feedback to address many creator pain points. Its exterior has been completely redesigned to be bold, modern, and unconventional. A look that clearly indicates this camera is meant to be taken with you wherever your videos take you! The camera’s comfort and power go far beyond just portability. Enjoy smooth zooming with the zoom lever on the camera (compatible with Power Zoom lenses), a 3-microphone array ensuring clear sound and unwanted noise reduction, and the latest Canon multifunction shoe, to which additional compatible accessories can be connected and powered.

VERTICALLY VERSATILE

This is a product designed for the modern video content creator, so it has both a vertical and a horizontal tripod mount. They are located on the camera’s handle side, as well as on the bottom of the camera body. When operating in movie mode, the screen menu automatically rotates to match the camera’s orientation.

ALWAYS READY

Since many creators spend a lot of time facing the camera, there are two record buttons: one on the front of the camera so you can confidently start recording when shooting vlogs, and another in the traditional shutter button location when you’re behind the camera. Additionally, the camera features a red signal (visible from the front and top of the camera) and an LCD screen with a red recording accent border around the LCD image so you or your subject are never surprised when the camera is actively recording.

The EOS R50 V features a zoom lever that can control Power Zoom lenses built into the camera body, such as the RF-S14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens. Zoom speed control can be fully customized in the camera menu, allowing separate control over speed before recording and separately during recording. The camera also has a microphone, headphones, and an E3 remote control port.

SIMPLIFIED “PRO LOOK” SETTINGS

The new mode selector experience now offers 7 different video focus modes that you can access with your fingertips. Video newcomers can use the fully automatic exposure mode features, including the scene mode, which has a special video mode for “close-up demonstrations,” perfect for video or e-commerce product creators. This mode is ideal for creators who want to show an object close to the lens and quickly return focus back to it. There’s also a mode for video stabilization shooting—for those recording vlogs while traveling. And because appearance is important to the camera, a special smooth skin filming mode is included.

CONTROL TIME WITH SLOW AND FAST MOTION

The slow and fast motion feature has been added to the EOS R50 V mode selector—selecting this mode allows for creative control over video frame rates and playback speeds separately in the camera, allowing for slow-motion recordings or quick-motion time-lapse sequences. Simply select the recording resolution of UHD 4K, UHD 4K Crop, or Full-HD, then select the frame rate, which can be 59.94p 4K Crop or 119.8p Full-HD, then simply set the desired playback speed to match your project.

CREATE YOUR DESIRED COLOR

The EOS R50 V camera is not only designed for video recording novices but also for advanced creators. High-end features such as Canon Log 3, HLG, PQ, and Canon709 recording provide rich colors up to 4:2:2 10-bit. A new color filter mode has also been added, providing 14 different color options and complementing the well-known Picture Style menu. And now creating cinematic-format videos is easier than ever with the new Cinema View mode, which creates a cinematic 2.35:1 aspect ratio box.
