The next-generation high-speed 802.11ax (WiFi 6) Dual-band WiFi router delivers speeds of up to 3000 Mbps for lag-free gaming, smooth 4K/8K UHD video playback and fast file sharing. The increasing number of personal and IoT devices connected to the network has led to an overall load on the network that is already pushing the limits of the current WiFi standard. The latest standard, 802.11ax, now called WiFi 6, offers future-proof technology, improved network efficiency, faster WiFi connections, better coverage and longer battery life for network-connected devices, which in turn greatly improves the networking experience.

The MR3000X is equipped with a high-speed Gigabit WAN port and three Gigabit LAN ports. The router is easy to deploy without a PC using the manufacturer's own Mercusys application. The free app is available for Android and iOS devices.

WiFi 6's revolutionary OFDMA technology delivers up to four times better network capacity and efficiency in busy environments. Previous generation 802.11ac WiFi (WiFi 5) can only handle one device at a time on each channel of the network, which again is not an efficient use of the available bandwidth. The OFDMA technology in WiFi 6 splits each channel into smaller subchannels, allowing signals from multiple devices to be combined and transmitted at the same time. This in turn reduces latency and delivers a smoother and more enjoyable Wi-Fi experience for the user.

The device has two modes of operation:

• Router - The device acts as a wireless access point, router and firewall by connecting to the Internet via an Ethernet cable.
• Base station - The device connects to an existing network via cable and acts as a base station only, without routing or firewall functionality.
